A process server is a professional who delivers legal documents and records the details of the service or attempted service. Professional process servers are familiar with locating recipients, documenting attempts, identifying individuals and businesses, dealing with difficult service situations, and preparing evidence required to establish that service took place.

Legal documents often have strict service requirements and deadlines. An error in service can result in additional expense, delay, or the need to serve the documents again. A professional process server provides an independent record of what occurred and can prepare an Affidavit of Service, Certificate of Service, or other proof of service when required.

Yes. We regularly handle documents originating outside the province where the recipient is located. When submitting an out-of-province assignment, please provide any specific service requirements, deadlines, court orders, or instructions that apply.

Yes. Rush and urgent service may be available depending on the location, deadline, server availability, and circumstances of the assignment. Clearly identify the service deadline when submitting your request. Additional charges may apply for rush, same-day, after-hours, weekend, holiday, or remote-location service.

The time required varies. Factors can include the recipient’s location, quality of the address information, availability, access restrictions, whether the recipient is avoiding service, weather and travel conditions, and the urgency of the assignment. We cannot guarantee that a recipient will be available or that service will be successful on a particular attempt.

The number of attempts depends on the service package ordered, your instructions, the applicable deadline, and the circumstances encountered by the process server. Where appropriate, attempts may be made on different days or at different times. Additional attempts can generally be arranged if required.

The process server will document the attempt and any relevant observations or information obtained at the address. Depending on your instructions and the circumstances, another attempt may be made at a different time or date.

We will report information obtained during the attempt. If a new address cannot be identified through reasonable inquiries at the location, we may be able to conduct or coordinate a skip trace or locate investigation.

Skip tracing is the process of researching available information to help locate an individual whose current residential, employment, or other contact information is unknown or outdated. Available information and permissible searches depend on the circumstances and applicable privacy and other laws.

Helpful information may include the recipient’s full legal name, residential address, workplace, telephone number, photograph, physical description, vehicle information, usual schedule, alternate addresses, and other lawful information that may assist with identification or location. Please also advise us of any known safety concerns.

Potentially, yes. Whether workplace service is appropriate depends on the applicable service requirements and circumstances. If you provide a workplace address, include the employer’s name and any other information that may help identify and locate the recipient.

Yes, although restricted-access buildings can present additional challenges. Our process servers use lawful and reasonable methods to attempt to gain access or make contact with the recipient. Building management, concierge staff, security systems, locked entrances, and access policies can affect an attempt.

Yes. Corporations, partnerships, government entities, and other organizations may have specific service requirements. We can attend registered offices, business locations, or other appropriate addresses and attempt service in accordance with applicable instructions and rules. Corporate searches may also be available.

Refusing to cooperate does not necessarily mean that valid service cannot take place. What constitutes effective service depends on the applicable rules and circumstances. An experienced process server will document what occurred and proceed in accordance with the applicable service requirements.

Avoidance can make service more difficult, but it does not necessarily make service impossible. Our process servers document attempts and observations carefully and may vary the timing of attempts where appropriate. If ordinary efforts remain unsuccessful, those records may assist a lawyer or court in considering another method of service.

Process servers do not have unrestricted authority to enter private residences or other areas where they are not legally entitled to be. Our process servers conduct assignments professionally and use lawful methods to attempt service.

No reputable process serving company can guarantee that a particular individual will be located or successfully served. We provide professional, diligent attempts together with clear documentation of the results.
